Mat Elliott is an indie soul and alt-pop artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia, blending smooth vocals, groove-driven songwriting, and retro-inspired production. Influenced by artists like Tom Misch, Young Gun Silver Fox, Still Woozy, and Michael McDonald, Mat’s music bridges yacht rock nostalgia with a fresh modern sound.

Since the release of his debut EP South Endings in 2024, Mat has been nominated for two East Coast Music Awards (Pop and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year) and two Music Nova Scotia Awards (New Artist Recording [won] and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year), while earning playlist placements on BIRP.FM’s 2024 Best Of, Exclaim!’s Eh! List, and other national tastemaker lists. His songs have been praised for their balance of laid-back grooves, thoughtful lyrics, and memorable hooks.

Mat is currently preparing his debut full-length album Video Games (2026), a 12-track collection that expands his sound with tighter grooves, retro-soul textures, and bold songwriting. With support from GroupSpeed Distribution and a growing international focus, particularly the UK, this project is designed to position Mat as one of Atlantic Canada’s most export-ready emerging artists.
